PRAGUE Old Town (Staré Město)

One of the great things about Prague is that most sightseeing can be done on foot – and nearly everything you see is beautiful. The piece-de-resistance is Old Town Square which, with its stunning ancient buildings and magnificent churches, is one of the most impressive historical sites in Europe. Luckily EPT Prague is held in December when Old Town square is brought to life by a world-famous Christmas market. Relax in one of the many bars and cafes, where you can drink hot wine and soak up the festive atmosphere.

PRAGUE Prague Astronomical Clock

The Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Hall is one of the major sights of the city and was first installed in 1410. It’s the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest one still working. The clock’s intricate construction includes a ‘procession’ of the Twelve Apostles: on the hour, every hour, a small trap door opens and Christ marches out ahead of his disciples, while the skeleton of death tolls the bell. Below the Astronomical Clock are 12 medallions with the signs of the zodiac.

PRAGUE Prague Castle

Prague Castle is the largest medieval castle complex in Europe and well worth visiting. Set on a hill on the other side of the Vltava River from the Old Town, it provides amazing views over the whole city. This is quite a steep hill, but you can stop for hot wine on your way up (and/or on your way down.) The Changing of the Guard at the front gates takes place every hour. At noon the ceremony includes a fanfare.

Potrefená Husa is a well-known chain of restaurants, with its Hybernská branch about 20 minutes walk from the Hilton. You can eat at the bar, or at tables. It’s standard fare including Czech and international dishes. Reasonable prices and friendly atmosphere are on the cards, but it’s not suitable for large groups.

Kolkovna is a casual pub-style Czech restaurant located in a 1920s former stamp-printing works in the heart of Prague's city centre (about five minutes by taxi). Kolkovna offers authentic Czech cuisine at reasonable prices with very generous portions! There is also a wide-range of local beers.

Gate Restaurant is a popular, modern, restaurant just two-minutes’ walk from the Hilton Hotel. The wide-ranging menu includes Czech specialities, homemade pastries, and salads, as well as Tex-Mex, lots of Italian pasta dishes, risottos, and other international dishes.

The drinks menu includes cocktails, a variety of whiskies, and a genrerous wine list. The Gate has free WiFi, newspapers and serves breakfast (including healthy options) from 8am. Non-smokers should head downstairs.

U Sudu wine bar, located in New Town about ten minutes taxi ride from the Hilton, is one of Prague’s largest bars with a nice courtyard garden as well as a massive labyrinth of underground rooms downstairs. There is only a very basic selection of food but the wine list is massive. Great atmosphere for evening drinking.

PRAGUE Chapeau Rouge

This lively club is located just off the Old Town square and is a favourite with poker players. It’s very busy, super-grungy and a great place to meet up. The bar upstairs is pub-style; downstairs it all gets a lot darker. One level down is a dance floor with funk, hardcore, indie rock, disco etc.; under that is an “Underground Club“ with live music by various indie bands.

PRAGUE Coco Café Disco Bar

The all-new Coco Café Disco Bar is located in the heart of Prague’s Old Town. The cafe and restaurant is open all day but transforms into a bar-lounge from 8pm. The dance floor is in the basement with DJs, cocktails and a stunning 18-metre long bar. Coco is allegedly a favourite haunt for celebs including, apparently, “producers, singers, actors, sportsmen and other kinds of interesting people.”  Perfect for poker players!!!

Located right in the Old Town next to Charles Bridge, Karlovy Lázně is a massive five-storey club in a refurbished building with interiors dating back to the 15th century. Mount Akhun is a stand-alone mountain in the Khostinsky City District of Sochi. Wedged between the Matsesta and Khosta Rivers, this karst massif is the highest point of the Sochi littoral. The peak of Greater Akhun is 663m above sea level. Its summit is marked by a 30.5m-tall Romanesque tower which was built in 1936.
