SOCHI Akhun Mountain

Mount Akhun is a stand-alone mountain in the Khostinsky City District of Sochi. Wedged between the Matsesta and Khosta Rivers, this karst massif is the highest point of the Sochi littoral. This lively club is located just off the Old Town square and is a favourite with poker players. It’s very busy, super-grungy and a great place to meet up. One of the great things about Prague is that most sightseeing can be done on foot – and nearly everything you see is beautiful. Luckily EPT Prague is held in December when Old Town square is brought to life by a world-famous Christmas market. Potrefená Husa is a well-known chain of restaurants, with its Hybernská branch about 20 minutes walk from the Hilton. You can eat at the bar, or at tables. It’s standard fare including Czech and international dishes. Reasonable prices and friendly atmosphere are on the cards, but it’s not suitable for large groups.

PRAGUE Prague Astronomical Clock

The Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Hall is one of the major sights of the city and was first installed in 1410. It’s the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest one still working. The clock’s intricate construction includes a ‘procession’ of the Twelve Apostles: on the hour, every hour, a small trap door opens and Christ marches out ahead of his disciples, while the skeleton of death tolls the bell. Below the Astronomical Clock are 12 medallions with the signs of the zodiac.

PRAGUE Prague Castle

Prague Castle is the largest medieval castle complex in Europe and well worth visiting. Set on a hill on the other side of the Vltava River from the Old Town, it provides amazing views over the whole city. This is quite a steep hill, but you can stop for hot wine on your way up (and/or on your way down.) The Changing of the Guard at the front gates takes place every hour. At noon the ceremony includes a fanfare.
