PRAGUE Old Town (Staré Město)

One of the great things about Prague is that most sightseeing can be done on foot – and nearly everything you see is beautiful. The piece-de-resistance is Old Town Square which, with its stunning ancient buildings and magnificent churches, is one of the most impressive historical sites in Europe. Luckily EPT Prague is held in December when Old Town square is brought to life by a world-famous Christmas market. Relax in one of the many bars and cafes, where you can drink hot wine and soak up the festive atmosphere.

PRAGUE Prague Astronomical Clock

The Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Hall is one of the major sights of the city and was first installed in 1410. It’s the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest one still working. The clock’s intricate construction includes a ‘procession’ of the Twelve Apostles: on the hour, every hour, a small trap door opens and Christ marches out ahead of his disciples, while the skeleton of death tolls the bell. Below the Astronomical Clock are 12 medallions with the signs of the zodiac.

PRAGUE Prague Castle

Prague Castle is the largest medieval castle complex in Europe and well worth visiting. Set on a hill on the other side of the Vltava River from the Old Town, it provides amazing views over the whole city. This is quite a steep hill, but you can stop for hot wine on your way up (and/or on your way down.) The Changing of the Guard at the front gates takes place every hour. At noon the ceremony includes a fanfare.

PRAGUE Potrefená Husa Hybernská

Potrefená Husa is a well-known chain of restaurants, with its Hybernská branch about 20 minutes walk from the Hilton. You can eat at the bar, or at tables. It’s standard fare including Czech and international dishes. Reasonable prices and friendly atmosphere are on the cards, but it’s not suitable for large groups.

PRAGUE Kolkovna

Kolkovna is a casual pub-style Czech restaurant located in a 1920s former stamp-printing works in the heart of Prague's city centre (about five minutes by taxi). Kolkovna offers authentic Czech cuisine at reasonable prices with very generous portions! There is also a wide-range of local beers.

This traditional Czech restaurant is located in the U Medvídků Hotel – the only hotel in Prague with its own micro-brewery (about 10 minutes by taxi). Classic Czech dishes, good atmosphere, reasonable prices and Budvar beer!

Aromi is an acclaimed, award-winning Italian restaurant just a short taxi ride (10 minutes) from the Hilton Prague Hotel, with a wide range of fresh fish and seafood dishes on offer. Gate Restaurant is a popular, modern, restaurant just two-minutes’ walk from the Hilton Hotel. The wide-ranging menu includes Czech specialities, homemade pastries, and salads, as well as Tex-Mex, lots of Italian pasta dishes, risottos, and other international dishes.

The drinks menu includes cocktails, a variety of whiskies, and a genrerous wine list. The Gate has free WiFi, newspapers and serves breakfast (including healthy options) from 8am. Non-smokers should head downstairs.

U Sudu wine bar, located in New Town about ten minutes taxi ride from the Hilton, is one of Prague’s largest bars with a nice courtyard garden as well as a massive labyrinth of underground rooms downstairs. There is only a very basic selection of food but the wine list is massive. Great atmosphere for evening drinking.

PRAGUE Chapeau Rouge

This lively club is located just off the Old Town square and is a favourite with poker players. It’s very busy, super-grungy and a great place to meet up. The bar upstairs is pub-style; downstairs it all gets a lot darker. One level down is a dance floor with funk, hardcore, indie rock, disco etc.; under that is an “Underground Club“ with live music by various indie bands.

PRAGUE Coco Café Disco Bar

The all-new Coco Café Disco Bar is located in the heart of Prague’s Old Town. The cafe and restaurant is open all day but transforms into a bar-lounge from 8pm. The dance floor is in the basement with DJs, cocktails and a stunning 18-metre long bar. Coco is allegedly a favourite haunt for celebs including, apparently, “producers, singers, actors, sportsmen and other kinds of interesting people.”  Perfect for poker players!!!

James Dean is a new retro diner-style bar and restaurant (jukebox, red leather bar stools and lots of chrome) close to the Old Town square. PRAGUE M1 Lounge Bar & Club

M1 Lounge is one of the smarter nightspots in Prague. Located in the Old Town and American-owned, M1 attracts an international crowd with DJs playing a good selection of R&B, hip-hop, indie rock and house. M1 also has one of the most luxurious and exclusive VIP rooms in Prague, hence its appeal with Hollywood stars and the like.

PRAGUE Karlovy Lázně

Located right in the Old Town next to Charles Bridge, Karlovy Lázně is a massive five-storey club in a refurbished building with interiors dating back to the 15th century. It’s allegedly the biggest club in Europe with a very young crowd and each floor offering different sounds: mainstream, 70s disco, hits from the 60s-80s, Paradogs Club (house, trance & techno) and a Chill Out floor.

One of the best things about the Cloud 9 Sky Bar & Lounge is that all you have to do is get in the elevator!! Located on the top floor of the Hilton, the bar offers stunning views over the city, the décor is pretty cool and there’s a great range of cocktails and tasty bar food.

PRAGUE Buddha-Bar Hotel Prague

After Paris, Beirut, Dubai, Cairo, Kiev, Sao Paolo, London and Jakarta… the world-famous Parisian Buddhah-Bar chain has now opened a venue in Prague. Buddha-Bar is essentially a super-luxurious chill-out zone with ambient tunes and exotic decor. A pretty nice place to meet and hang out, bankroll permitting.

PRAGUE Cybex Health Club & Spa

PokerStars qualifiers and other players staying at the Hilton can use most of the Cybex Health Club & Spa facilities for free including state of the art gym, indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. There is also indoor cycling  and a squash court. The Spa offers a side range of treatments including traditional, oriental and exotic massages.
